Change Click Dimensions Email Template Editor Type

Someone asked me today how to change the editor type of a Click Dimensions email template from “Custom HTML” to “Block” Editor. Click Dimensions help documentation stated there are four types of editors, Drag and Drop, Block, Free Style, and Custom HTML. You might naturally think you can jump among the four editor types anytime you want. Unfortunately, you cannot, and the Click Dimensions documentation did not say that. You can change from either the Drag and Drop type or the Block type to the Free Style type or the Custom HTML type, but not vice versa. For example, once you selected the Free Style type or the Custom HTML type, the Editor Type field will be locked.

If you think about the process of making an email, it kind of make sense. You probably will start with the Drag and Drop editor and get 80% of what you want. Then you will switch to the Free Style editor to add extra bells and whistles to finish off because you can edit HTML source code directly in the editor.  I don’t see a need for the Custom HTML editor type because the Free Style editor already provides you both the visual designer and the HTML (source code) editor.

Just for the context, I am using ClickDimensions version 8.1.0.
